Scheduled during Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week's High Stakes Pitch Competition on Thursday, May 9, this event presents an invaluable opportunity for Louisiana startups to showcase their ingenuity and vie for a chance to compete on the global stage at the esteemed Startup World Cup Grand Finale.
High Stakes Pitch, powered by Nexus Louisiana, will be a focal point of Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week, convening the most promising startups from the region to present their ventures before a distinguished panel of judges. Winning teams of the competition will secure automatic qualification for the Startup World Cup Grand Finale slated for October 4 in San Francisco, California.

The regional pitch competition promises to draw industry leaders, investors, and local communities, offering startups a vibrant platform to present their business propositions. Apart from gaining recognition for their inventive solutions and access to invaluable resources and networking opportunities, winners of the High Stakes Pitch Competition will win a $100,000 investment prize funded by Innovation Catalyst and Red Stick Angels and complimentary airfare to compete in Silicon Valley gifted by local tech company, NSPECT.

Organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures, the Startup World Cup Grand Finale stands as the premier global startup conference and pitch competition. By securing a direct path to the Grand Finale, winners of the regional pitch competition in Louisiana will compete for a $1,000,000 investment prize against startups from across the globe. This prestigious event garners over 25,000 attendees and facilitates extensive national and international media outreach, providing startups with unparalleled exposure.
Nexus Louisiana's collaboration with Startup World Cup is part of a broader trend of fostering global entrepreneurship and digital transformation. High Stakes Pitch serves as a platform for startups to demonstrate their scalability and meet Startup World Cup's eligibility criteria. Applicants must must be Louisiana-based businesses or willing to relocate, have a scalable and high-growth business model, and generate less than $750,000 in 12-month trailing revenue. Previous participants of High Stakes Pitch, who were not winners, are also eligible to apply.
The application and executive summary are due by April 8. Semi-finalists will be notified on April 9 and will have until April 18 to submit their competition materials, including a pitch deck for review by a team of accredited investors. Semi-final pitches will be held on April 25, where selected startups will present their ideas followed by a Q&A session.
The finalists of the competition will receive coaching and mentorship to refine their pitches and prepare for the final round. All finalists will be required to submit their due diligence documents by May 2. The grand finale of the competition will take place on Thursday, May 9 at Mid City Towers in Baton Rouge, providing an opportunity for the public to witness the excitement and innovation of Louisiana's top startups.
